Social Distancing Diaries: Day 77

Dear Diary

Just a day of ordinary randomness. But that wouldn’t make for a particularly interesting blogpost, so I’ll try to do better.

Hayley packed for Philly. There might have been some twin tears going on. I will not confirm or deny. Without the semester being moved to online learning Hayley and Ellen would only have had a few days together this summer. Instead, they’ve had 2.5 months. So that’s kinda cool. But we all really like having Hayley around. She is a fun, peaceful presence in our family and we’re going to miss her. I know she’ll bring that same fun and peace to her team in Philly.

Do you know that the Rotary club will have their fry wagon at The Gathering Place in Mount Joy from 11-1, giving out free hot dogs and fries (on 5/30)? Guess where I’ll be at 11am?

We’ve been trying to make Hayley’s last weekend here special. We had homemade pizza and I made a strawberry/rhubarb crumble. Then we let Hayley pick the games (Dutch Blitz and Bananagrams) and the evening viewing (Disney’s Zenimation). The Zenimation wasn’t what Hayley expected but it put me to sleep!

Oh, we planned a little summer getaway! Since Kenbrook Bible Camp had to cancel their youth camps this summer they are replacing it with family camping. Each family will have their own room and they’ll be able to do activities as a family. Since we have nothing else to do we thought we’d give it a try. Lily was game—a camp where we don’t have to interact with anyone? Sweet! Speaking of Lily, shout out to my girl who earned the “Kindness Award” on her 6th Grade team! We’re so proud of her. Also, how great is it that the school celebrates Kindness?!
