Social Distancing Diaries: Day 37

Dear Diary

Some days I got nothin’.  I’m humbled by friends who tell me my blog is the first thing they read in the morning, before any news or email. I’m delighted to bring a little joy or empathy into the world. We can use more of both.

Lily had a knitting lesson with Grandma via Zoom so she could finish off the hat she made.

Today I bring empathy. Today was hard for me. I’m not really sure why. Every few weeks I peel off another layer of the onion and the weight of it all gets me down. I guess that’s what happened today. I retreated to my bedroom to be alone for a few hours. I intended to indulge myself by watching something but I ended up falling asleep. By the time I woke up it was time to fulfill my promise to Hayley to proofread her research paper for her “Family as a Social Institution” class. Four and half hours later, I called it a night. There’s still more work to be done, but I put it into her hands. She wants me to thank Kasey Lee for teaching her how to write. Thanks, Aunt Kasey!! She received a 96 (!) on the last paper she wrote (I proofed) so she’s pretty happy. I’m on my way to my honorary Social Work degree. I’ll add to that to my 2 honorary Masters degrees and one honorary Doctorate. My glory, by the time Lily is done with college I’m going to be so smart!
